True Beauty Webtoon Review

"True Beauty" is a South Korean webtoon that talks about the pressures of societal beauty standards with a heart warming and relatable story. It follows Jugyeong Lim, a high school student who feels insecure about her appearance. Through the power of makeup, Jugyeong creates a stunning online persona, navigating the complexities of social media and self-perception.

The story unfolds in a world where physical attractiveness holds significant weight. Jugyeong, initially self-conscious about her looks, discovers the transformative power of makeup artistry. With her newfound online persona, she gains popularity and experiences the perks of being considered beautiful.

However, "True Beauty" goes beyond the superficial. As Jugyeong navigates her double life, the webtoon explores the themes of self-acceptance, inner beauty, and the importance of building confidence beyond appearances. Witness Jugyeong's journey as she grapples with the pressures of maintaining her online image while discovering her own unique strengths.

The webtoon boasts a charming cast of characters, each with their own vulnerabilities and dreams. Witness Jugyeong develop genuine friendships with individuals who see past her carefully crafted character and appreciate her for who she truly is.

Here is what other internet users had to say:

"Its more realistic than other webtoons"
"It had a strong plot point but lost its potential when it focused more on love and less on the actual plot
I’d rather want to learn more about the toxic/ non toxic sides of makeup

There’s another webtoon called makeup remover which fits the makeup theme really well and I really liked it"

I do also agree with this fact, that the plot strays too far into a love manhwa and forgets its own character. This is why this manhwa has a bit of lost potential in terms of the plot.

"True Beauty" offers a relatable and heart warming story that resonates with readers facing self-doubt and societal pressures. It's a webtoon that celebrates individuality, the power of friendship, and the journey towards self-acceptance. Though it does struggle with the plot, it is still a great read for newer readers. Overall, this is a 6.5/10!
